Bournemouth Sun-Sea and S
A big thank you to Pat ladies of Harley for organising this event although not well attended (in Fact there was only sue and I) we had a great time.
The Hinton Firs hotel is situated above the cliffs in Bournemouth and a short walk from the sandy beach and lovely sea, and at £119 per person for two nights Dinner, Bed and Breakfast was good value for money 4* accommodation for less than a travel lodge. The majority of guests were tapping on a bit (tongue in cheek) but they loved the Harleys.
I set off from Maidenhead about 3.30 Pm Friday afternoon and despite the best forecast from the weather centre (Thunder and lightening. Very Very frightening) I stayed dry and had a good ride home to Dorset where I picked up Sue and off we went the 12 miles to the hotel.
After a great evening meal we spent Friday evening sat around the pool having a few beers.
Saturday we did the motorcycle shops in the area and then spent the rest of the day shopping in Bournemouth which has a great shopping centre and then back for another great meal and more beer by the pool. Now as it happens there was a couple of professional Latin American Dancers staying at the hotel who gave us an impromptu display of the Salsa Kept a lot of OLD men very happy.
On Sunday we were joined by Barry and Pat and Sue's sister and her husband who has just bought a V Rod. After a coffee and photo shoot at the hotel we rode off into the new forest stopping at the Plough pub in TIPTOE (where the new forest chapter meet) we all had a great Sunday roast lunch and then rode to Sammy Millers. Unfortunately we missed the group from Thames Valley who had by then left the museum.
After tea and wads at Sammy Millers we rode back through the New Forrest back home leaving Pat and Barry at Ringwood. But we all agreed it had been a great day and we had a magic weekend albeit only 12 miles from home.
If Pat arranges a similar trip next year it is well worth the money.
