Thames Valley Convergence run 3 May 2009
We were lucky with the weather again, thank goodness the forecasters cannot get it right all the time!
An intrepid group of 11 bikes and 3 pillions set off from WAMSAD for an hour long gentle stroll through the country lanes to pick up the rest of the chapters at the westbound Reading Services. A scenic ride taking in many country lanes, skirting Wokingham and a short blatt down the motorway from J11 to the gathering point. Road works and a few turns kept the pack busy with quite a few drop off’s so all had their fair share (and more). Sue, David and the other newer riders had a couple of the more difficult ones and carried them off with ease. Thanks to all, especially Postie, Mike and Ray who kept the pack together and made the lead a lot easier. (click on read more to see the rest of the article)
A sea of bikes awaited us at the services and, following a short briefing by Russell the group set off down the motorway, through a series of great country roads ending up at a gathering point near Hook followed by a ride through sweeping roads to end up at the Hatchgate Pub at Bramshill some hour and a quarter later for a great BBQ, laid on specially for us.
The day got nice and warm with all sitting outside and all took advantage to see and chat with familiar faces from various rallies!
Oxford’s turn next so let’s see all of us out on that one. Do watch the website for the details nearer the time.
Thanks to Russell for the excellent ride and Postie / Richard A and Kirsty keeping up the rear guard. The orange trike does create quite a stir with the car drivers! Thanks to all for the contribution of the photos.
A few of us came back the gentle route via Twyford and Henley to have a coffee / tea by the river and for Bulldog to meet a couple of pals – see the photos!! Thanks to Paul who led the route up to Twyford and saved us getting very confused going through Wokingham.
