Toy run to John Radcliffe Hospital

What a good turnout for the second week in a row for the Toy run with Oxford Chapter to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

We all got to WAMSAD on a bright and chilly morning with an impressive number of bikes all cleaned and polished ready for the off. WAMSAD car park seemed very full - anyone check how many we had?

Some cutting it a little fine arriving with Lil’ Hagrid already in full flow of the do’s and don’t’s for the rideout, and, being lead for the day, duly led us out of Maidenhead, with dry roads, through Henley and then up the road towards H’s (was Fox’s until recently). A great, clear run.

A short break for essentials, warm up and a meet up with a good group of those from the Chapter who live over that side of our patch and only too soon the stop was cut short for the next part of the ride to the Oxford Dealership

There the dealership was in full swing with DJ, teas, coffees, and a food trailer was waiting to feed those who missed out on breakfast to get to WAMSAD on time! (Thank you Oxford Chapter.) The sun broke through and warmed us all up so we got ready for the off for the next sector.

The Oxford road crew soon sorted us all out, riders, marshals etc and of we went for the shortish ride to the John Radcliffe Hospital – a police escort, together with all the bikes and toys made the event very memorable and we all basked in the heat of the day

Following a while at the hospital where those who wanted could visit the wards and chat to those who were unfortunately in hospital we returned to the Oxford dealership where more ate, drank (soft drinks) and listened to the music. Please don’t mention the road works!

What a day – thank you Hagrid, for the lead, the tails Colin and Nij and the Oxford Chapter, for all the organisation and resources to make this such a good day.

St George’s day next week – lets have a similar showing for that as well – see the activities page for more details.

Cheers all
